Materials:
- Tempera cakes
- Variety of brushes
- Two jars of water
- Paper towels
- Sponge
- Painting paper

What we did:
- Learned how to get nice colors with the tempera cakes
- Use just a little water
- Go round and round to make the paint creamy
- Learned how to keep the tempera cakes clean
- When switching colors,
- Wipe the brush on a paper towel
- Swish the brush in the jar of cleaning water, wiping the brush on the bottom of the jar
- Tap the brush on the sponge to get off excess water
- Before picking up yellow or white paint, you might want to dip the brush into the second clean water jar first, and then tap off
- At the end of the painting session dab the top of the dirty cakes with a damp paper towel
- When switching colors,
- Learned what kind of marks different brushes make
- Painted ice cones — crayon cones, painted ice cream
- Painted an outdoor scene of a tree with green and yellow leaves, blue sky, green grass and red flowers.
